What is a works council?

Under the Dutch Works Councils Act (Wet op de ondernemingsraden, WOR) an organisation with 50 or more people working in it must set up a works council (article 2). Employees elect its members by secret ballot (article 9). The term is 3 years, or 2 or 4 years if the works council rules say so (article 12).

The works council has rights to information, consultation, initiative, advice (article 25) and consent (article 27). Organisations with 10 to 50 people may have a staff representation body (personeelsvertegenwoordiging, PVT) instead.

How we facilitate your election

  • Every voter receives a personal e-mail invitation with a unique, encrypted ballot link.
  • Voters vote on their phone, tablet or laptop.
  • We set everything up according to your works council rules (OR-reglement) and test it with you first.
  • After your approval we send the ballots. You receive the result with an official report (proces-verbaal).
  • Invitations and ballots are available in multiple languages.
  • One dedicated contact person guides your election committee from start to finish.
